Judi Dench – the greatest Bond woman of all time!

Judi Dench – the greatest Bond woman of all time!

written by Anu Gopinath

The life of an assassin, going for his kill in the name of his Queen and his country, is riddled with the insecurities and fears of a man nearing the end of the tunnel and finding himself obsolete in the new Judi-Denchworld of drones and gadgets.

The one that kept James Bond sane (other than his Walther PPK of course) was the sturdy hands of a woman who went toe to toe with Bond – to unleash him to the world and then sheath him in the confines of Booze, women and the cold walls of MI6 at her whim, when found surplus for her needs and plans.

Long gone were the days of Connerys and Moores and the bond series was left stagnant for a significant period of time begging for resurrection when, MGM in all its wisdom chose to relaunch the series with Pierce Brosnan and later with Daniel Craig in the lead. The choice like any other came with its own controversies but the Judi-Denchwisdom of its choice left the world in their gasps, when in came to the land of men guns and bullets, a woman, as the head of MI6 who will ever hold the crown of being the “the only woman who ever bought the secret agent to his knees”. DAME Judie Dench.

So the board was set. The hunt was afoot. Short in stature but abundant in talent, Judie Dench curved a niche for herself in the hearts of the fans and critics alike when she hunted down the enemies of state with the eye and cold heart of a hunter who killed for her Country and savoured the last moments of her prey with such nonchalance that will put even Dr.Hannibal Lecter to shame.

In a movie series where women character had practically nothing to speak of other than being the eye candy (with only Eva Green in 2006 Casino Royale being an exception), Judi Dench rode in with such authoritarian aura that she traded punch for punch, wit for wit, barb for barb with her adversaries as well as her top assassin to come out on top and each and every single time she found herself and her organisation on the ropes. And innumerable times she outshone her colleagues with such wit and charm that Brosnan and Craig humbly stepped back for her to take the centre stage.

Such was her acting prowess that she made the character of M a lasting symbol of reason and justice. Her forthrightness in Judi-Denchsupporting her top assassin even at the face of her worst rival, her ironclad judgement where she orders to even shoot him for the
greater good of saving many made her one of the most awe inspiring characters that cinema ever gifted to the world!

Starting her term as M in Goldeneye (1995) along side Pierce Brosnan, Judi Dench owned the role to such extend that it gave a new dimension to the character of M and in turn helped Brosnan in sharing the load of expectations that came naturally with the role of the most suave secret agent ever to have graced over the silver screen.

Bond movies reaped the benefits of her charisma and methodical acting and it was a fitting tribute and recognition to Judi Dench’s talent and contribution that her character was the only one which survived the reboot when MGM gave us the most manly bond in Daniel Craig.

Judi-DenchDaniel Craig’s portrayal of Bond showed his vulnerable side of being a human who is steadfast and arrogant to the point of self destruction with her playing the perfect foil to her brash assassin guiding him when needed, reprimanding him when required and unleashing him when cornered.

Judi Dench brought her own style and perspective into the character of M that bond series would never be the same again. Perhaps it was fitting tribute to her achievements that her swan song as M was destined to be played out under the respectable eyes of some of the thespians of world cinema – Ralph Fiennes and Javier Bardem!

And when she finally walked away, she did so with her head held high having given the world a mere glimpse of the multitude of her talent and her name shall ever be etched in the lores of the cinema as GREATEST BOND WOMAN OF ALL TIME!

Most sexually explicit erotic films ever made (20+1list)

Most sexually explicit erotic films ever made

written by Souranath Banerjee

Most sexually explicit erotic films ever made: ‘The difference between pornography and erotica is lighting.’ – Gloria Leonard.

The above quote may be true to a certain extent but it needs a lot more than just lighting to create beautiful erotic Cinematic moments.

There is a thin line that separates erotica from porn; often indeed a difficult task to specifically define their boundaries. I Am Curious (Yellow)

Lust, desire, urge, passion – cinema has the capability to arouse all these powerful emotions in the audience but only a handful of directors have actually used erotica to its full potential.

It’s not about simply showing sexual content but about creating the mood, the flavor, the drama and enhancing the emotions of the characters through it. The best sex scenes in a movie (no matter how explicit they are) serve their true purpose only if they justify the story-line.

And then, of course, how sensually they are enacted and dramatized is directly proportional to the audience’s excitement!

Here are some of the most sexually explicit erotic films made by the very finest directors from across the world.

Hope you enjoy the list.

Plenty of explicit sex scenes, stylishly shot and 3D too (a market strategy I guess), but overall there is an honesty about the characters which you can’t ignore.

Directed by Gaspar Noé, this is his unique and trippy take on sentimental sexuality. Go figure!

10. Stranger by the Lake (2013)

Michael PittLouis Garrel and the sensuous Eva Green (her first film).

Far better than his other famous film Last Tango in Paris (1972).

1. Malèna (2000)

Film trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIES83R56RY

Sexually-explicit-erotic-films

Probably the most popular film based on the age-old concept of a young boy who is sexually attracted towards an elder woman.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill for (2014)

My Ratings: 3/5

Welcome to the twisted world of Sin City.

A city that conspires with the stooping dark shadows to tell its gruesome stories; where white blood spills like milk, men ruthless and bloodthirsty, and the dames cold and treacherous.

Almost after a decade since Sin City (2005) mesmerized us, we are invited again to get drenched in pure artistic savage violence; an invitation I couldn’t resist.

sin-city-poster1The most awaited sequel – Sin City: A dame to kill for has preserved the legacy of Frank Miller’s comic book style imagery, typically high contrast black and white with occasional flashes of red, blue, green and gold.

Perspectives are stretched beyond belief and each frame has a unique story of shadow play.

And that too in 3D! (Though I personally feel the 3D technology doesn’t add much to such already-stylized films).

sin-city-poster2Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez have done it again but this time (though artistically as impressive as the first one) the story doesn’t have that sting in it.

The various interlinked plots that bind the screenplay are somehow deliberately underplayed; I mean as if it is a conscious effort from the filmmakers to keep things as simple as possible almost at the risk of being dumb.

But consistency is maintained in the department of violence. Every now and then throats are getting sliced, skulls smashed, enough chopped hands and heads and at the peak of it – an eye was taken out with bare hands!

sin-city-poster3-marvActors who managed to stay alive in the first movie still dominate the sequel – the brute force Mickey Rourke, seductive dancer Jessica Alba, the protector of the old town Rosario Dawson and the powerful senator Powers Boothe.

Even Bruce Willis makes his presence felt in a few scenes – now only a ghost of himself.

And then there is the sexy Eva Green, chirpy Joseph Gordon Lewitt and Josh Brolin (replacing Clive Owen) – the new lot who promise to commit every possible sin offered by the Sin City.

sin-city-a-dame-to-kill-for-poster-rosario-dawsonThe deadly Miho is also been replaced; Jamie Chung played the role instead of my favorite Devon Aoki.

But nevertheless every Sin City film is an unique experience, an artistic extravaganza, a pure delight for both the action film lovers and comic book enthusiasts.

In this sequel there is a bonus treat for us, none other than the sultry Eva Green and her fight for free-dom with the censor boards (of India).

Unless of course you watch the film – so wait till it’s released.

The Interview

A deadly plan to assassinate North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un but unfortunately the least qualified men are chosen by the CIA for the mission.

the judge
